TO SAY IN CASE OF DEATH

What do you say in the event of death?

When someone has lost a loved one, it can be hard to know what to say. Words often feel inadequate — or you're afraid to say the wrong thing. But showing consideration, even in simple words, can mean a lot.

Here you will find examples, advice and formulations for different situations — whether you want to write a card, express your participation in a conversation or send a message. The main thing is not to say something perfect, but to show that you care.

    • “I am so sorry for your loss.”
    • “My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.”
    • “I'm here for you if you need to talk or just have company.”
    • “I can't imagine how hard this must be for you.”
    • “I think of you and send all my love.”
    • “It's hard to find words, but I want you to know that I care.”
    • “I'm so sorry to hear about [the name of the deceased]. He will be missed.”
    • “If you need help with something, don't hesitate to get in touch.”
    • “I'm here to support you through this.”
    • “It's a hard time, and I hope you can find strength in all those fond memories.”
